10. Safeguarding & Child Protection
At ArtyKats, the safety and well-being of every child in our care is our highest priority. To ensure a safe, nurturing environment:
- All staff and volunteers working with children have undergone appropriate background checks (e.g., DBS in the UK or equivalent in other countries).
- Lead staff are trained to recognise signs of abuse, neglect, and unsafe behaviour, and will follow appropriate reporting procedures if concerns arise.
- Club staff will supervise children at all times during club hours, including during break times and outdoor activities.
- Children will only be released to authorised adults listed on the registration form.
- We maintain appropriate adult-to-child ratios in all activities to ensure supervision and safety.
- Physical contact between staff and children is limited to what is appropriate for safety, encouragement, or first aid, and always conducted with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Our facilities are arranged to allow for privacy and supervision, with no one-on-one adult-child interaction in isolated spaces unless required for medical attention or a child’s specific needs.
11. Art Materials & Studio Safety
- ArtyKats uses age-appropriate and non-toxic art materials wherever possible.
- While we aim to minimise risk, some materials (e.g., acrylic paints, glues, scissors, clay tools) may require supervision or carry mild safety risks (e.g., staining, sharp edges).
- Children will receive safety instructions before using tools or materials and are expected to follow all staff guidance.
- Protective aprons or smocks will be provided, but we recommend children wear old clothes suitable for messy activities. ArtyKats is not responsible for damage to clothing or personal items.
- Some projects may include natural or recycled materials (e.g., cardboard, twigs, bottle caps). If your child has sensitivities or allergies, please notify us in advance.
- In the case of accidental ingestion, eye exposure, or skin reactions, staff will administer appropriate first aid and contact parents immediately.
- Parents are encouraged to inform staff if their child has sensory sensitivities to specific materials such as glue, paint textures, or noise.
By registering for the ArtyKats Summer Art Club, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
